Gas Prices
Lets start drilling in Alaska and off the coast of Florida and stop listening to the democrats who are just exploiting the situation to help their party and possibly their pocket. I wonder how many of those who vote against drilling domestically also have stock in alternative energy companies. Wouldn’t it be interesting if they were profiting from keeping the price of oil HIGH to make alternative energy more competitive? I know Al Gore buys “carbon credits” from a company he owns. How many democrats still in office are doing the same? Face it people, the government IS CORRUPT! Democrats cry about the environment yet fly in private jets and drive SUVs. FUCK YOU DEMOCRATS! You block drilling to keep the price up and then tell me I should cut back on my driving while you pollute more in a day then my entire family does in a year. Republicans are to blame as well. They let speculators run up the price of oil and let BIG OIL use that as an excuse to gouge the American people. Its ironic that now that our infrastructure is built around the combustion engine we’re going to dramatically increase prices and hurt those at the bottom. How is that good for the country? You say we should fight our addiction to oil without providing an alternative that’s affordable for the working class. Don’t you see this only hurts the poorest people who NEED their inefficient car to get to and from work because the cost of living where their jobs exist is outrageous. Don’t the democrats claim to be looking out for the poor?

The bottom line is that both, Big Business [profits] and politicians [more tax money] want the higher prices! I also have the following as a guideline to help me decide on, ‘the lessor of the two evils’! The Republicans are more prone to ‘rob the poor and give to the rich’, while the Democrats ‘rob the rich and give to the poor’!

You are right. Both the Demos and Reps are screwing the working class. We should have started developing alternate energy 25 years ago. It is totally stupid to have your whole economy dependent on a product that is mostly controlled by foreign interests. Bio-diesel has tremendous potential. Affordable solar panels could also help the average homeowner cut their power bill and save fuel from being used to generate electricity. My opinion is that we need a middle of the road person in the White House that looks out for everyone. Not just the poor or the rich. Sadly, neither major political party will come up with one. Every election boils down to the lesser of two evils.

Actually most viable studies have shown that more drilling in Offshore Florida and Alaska will make about a 3 cent difference in price in about 10-20 years. The price is set at a global market, so it ain’t gonna do shit. What we need Congress to do is quit wasting there time debating this offshore and ANWR drilling and starting putting their efforts into finding alternatives. We are supposed to reach Peak Oil in the next 10 years(a conservative estimate) some say we have already reached it. More drilling will not help, we need alternatives ASAP.

I think bio-diesel ain’t a solution, unless the aim is a rising food prices ( exepted if we use frying oil). Hydrogen engine is a solution, so is ITER initiative.

The bottem line is it is all about the money and as soon as there is more money in alternate energy then in oil for the people who are making all the money then we will start using it more. Im from the texas panhandle and one of the richest oil people up here is starting to buy up land and putting up wind turbines because he knows its coming. So the middle class gets fucked no matter what. They will not drill here unless there is lots of money in it that is what its all about.

I agree. No matter what the party, the politician is still going for his own well-being. But, Mike, you sound kind of dumb considering the republicans have done more for the poor than the democrats have ever and will ever. The democrats are bringing a lot more taxes on us now, especially with what Obama is proposing.. However, my main reason for posting this is just to say that if you guys know what you are talking about voice out in to the public, dont just sit around posting this crap. take it to the government.. take it to the media.. good luck.
